Your chances of winning in any given day are 1 in ~435+ Million. If the difficult stayed the same, you would statistically only find 1 block every 1.2 Million years. You can calculate your odds yourself using solochance.com and entering the hash rate.

To be very clear, the likelihood of you finding a block is unbelievably small. This is like running an S9 in solo for 16 seconds a day or an S19 Pro for 2 seconds a day.

That said, those are super loud machines that are expensive to run. This costs less than $3 a year  in electric to run. These are cool to learn about mining in an easy & fun to use way or work great as a gift. Each hash has the same probability as any other hash. So you never really know unless you “play”. NOTE – This is just the DIY. You don’t need to do any of the below in order to get this set up. The pre-build is pretty much as plug and play as mining can get!

How to mine with an Antminer U2 on a Raspberry Pi 4, Raspberry Pi Model 3 A+ or Raspberry Pi Model Pi 3 B+

Open the “Terminal” app. Enter the following commands. If you have trouble, enter each command as its own separate line:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade -y

sudo apt-get install -y build-essential autoconf automake libtool pkg-config libcurl4-openssl-dev libudev-dev libusb-1.0-0-dev libncurses5-dev zlib1g-dev git

cd
git clone https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer.git
cd cgminer

CFLAGS="-O2 -march=native -fcommon" ./autogen.sh --enable-gekko --enable-icarus

sudo make install

— That’s it! You should be good to test if the installation was successful.

Type in the command:

cd cgminer

sudo cgminer -o stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333 -u 1BURGERAXHH6Yi6LRybRJK7ybEm5m5HwTr -p x --suggest-diff 128

In order to mine on your own, you need to change the mining pool URL to whichever mining pool you are using. It’s usually this part: stratum+tcp://stratum.kano.is:3333

You’d replace that with something like stratum+tcp://solo.ckpool.org:3333
